The environment of our school is urban; you can
find us in the middle of the town. We are surrounded by stores, a hospital,
other schools and a large nearby park. This location can help us to show to our
students the two faces of a town; the commercial area and the recreational and
natural area. The socio-economic status of the families are good, they have a
medium-high economic level (exurban).
In our school we have two levels: nursery and
primary school. The students are organizing alphabetically.
On the one hand, in nursery
school we have three curses: three years, four years and five years. Each level
has two classes and twenty students. On the other hand, we split primary school
on Infant school with three classes of twenty five children, and Junior school
with three classes of twenty five children.
The staff of the school is composed of: the
principal and the assistant principal; the teachers (tutors and specialist of
music, plastic, arts, sports); two counsellors responsible of help the students
with their school, family, social and emotional problems; two pedagogues responsible
for preventing and spotting any problem in the comprehensive development of the children.
The school also has a sign language interpreter and a
wheelchair assistant to help those students that need it. In addition, we have
a school cleaning service.
The time organisation depends of the principal, and
the teachers of each class. In September, all the school have a meeting where
the general schedule is decided and the specific timetable of each class is
collected in the programming course.
Regarding the school spaces; we have fifteen ordinal
classes, separate toilets, and the classes of: music, arts, laboratory, gym...
a canteen, two playgrounds, an orchard, the offices, a boardroom and an
assembly hall.
Dear families,
Welcome to 2nd grade. My name is Erea, and
I will be your children's English teacher in this level.
My goal as an educator is to guide your
child, Alberto Paz Gómez, toward academic and personal development. I am
dedicated to the well-being of your child and I need your cooperation in
helping him reach his potential.
The English department have developed a
survey with the purpose of having a closer knowledge of our students. We would
be glad if you could spend some time on this task.
1. Do you have other children in the school?
2. Have you ever studied English?
3. Can you help your kids with English homework?
4. What is the behaviour of your son or daughter at home?
5. Have you noticed any difficulties in the process of learning a foreign
language?
6. Do you have any relatives in foreign countries?
7. Do any members of the family speak other languages? Which one/ones?
8. Does your child know how to speak or understand another language apart
from the native language? Which one/ones?
9. Do you make use of more than one language when speaking to your
son/daughter? Which one/ones?
10. Do your children study English or other foreign languages out of the
school? Which one/ones?
If you have any doubts, please contact me.

GAME
“To take the ball”
The idea is to talk about likes and interests. All the
class is arranged in a circle and we need a soft ball. The game has got two
steps.
- In the first step the teacher
offers the example: “Hello, my name is Sara and I like pizza”.
- There is a second turn, and
the teacher offers the new pattern: “Hello, I’m Sara and I love tennis”.
Thanks to this game, the teacher easily knows the names
of the students, and all the students participate, and they meet to each other.
Variation:
Students may also say, your favourite colour, their
hobbies, they like to do in your free time.
